last minute call

we had a relative from china visiting us over the weekend and we haven't got much time to show him around. as a result, we drove him around the city, showing him the twin towers and some other attractions around town. shopping is not what he wanted as he can get almost everything back home and it's way cheaper there. at around 3pm today, we made a last minute decision to show him what genting highlands is all about and at the same time try his luck in the casino. it's definitely a crazy decision when we are not planning to spend a night there and it will be only for a few hours duration. furthermore, we were there just last weekend when we spend a night.

got my cousin to drive us there and we left kl around 5pm. at genting, mom and my cousin took him to the casino after we had a short walk around. this time around, i did not join them in the casino but spend time alone exploring places and corners that i didn't managed last weekend. while exploring, took a few shots of the outdoor theme park when the sunset and in first world plaza using my camera phone. when exploring, i also found this very interesting place called the visitor galleria where it displays the history of genting highlands from the very first day it was built till today. besides that, i strolled along the shops, boutiques, cafes, food outlets and also the pavillion where the current xtreme show is held.

after all the walking, i then settled down at starbucks with my favourite ice caffe latte, a slice of blueberry cheese cake and started reading the book i brought along. the weather was perfectly fine today and it's only 24 degree celcius at 8pm and i was only clad with polo tshirt, shorts and sandals. when they're done with the casino gamings, we left genting around 9pm and head back home.

big eater

had late lunch with sm yesterday at the chicken rice shop. instead of ordering ala carte, we decided to get a set lunch for 2 pax. from the set lunch listing, it has a couple of item and i didn't really bothered looking at it. then when each of the item is served, both of us had a bit of shocked when they kept on serving us. dishes by dishes served and it almost occupied the whole table for 4 person. at that fraction of time, both of us reckon we won't be able to finish all of them and we are a bit greedy in ordering. so, we took our time enjoying our lunch and at the end, we managed to finish all of them. bravo to both of us and we didn't waste any of them. lesson learned, look at the items although it's a set. hehe!!

grieving morning

it's a grieving morning when pixel told me that our PM's wife Datin Seri Endon Mahmood has passed away this morning at 755am. it is a cold and moody morning as rain falls before dawn. it's such a lost to the nation as she have been a wonderful nation contributor. she had been fighting a long battle with cancer and she recently just came back from treatment in the states. my condolences to the PM and his family.

monday blues

it was a blur morning for me today where i sent a wrong sms birthday wishes to a friend whose actual birthday is on the 19th. she's a friend whom i knew for almost 12 years now and i got her birthday wrong this time. the worst part is that, i wished her a happy belated birthday where her birthday is not even there yet. what a shame and i'm terribly sorry for her. i guess it's got to be monday blues. just have to make sure i wish her on the exact date with proper wishes.

in office, kinda busy for me today, lots of documentation work to do and lucky enough i managed to finish them on time before i leave at 6pm. both me and sm have been longing to join a gym to get ourselves worked out as we're getting more and more lazy and unfit. last week, we managed to enrolled ourselves in a newly opened gym nearby our house and today was our first day there. kind of excited to work on those machines since i last did it about 6 years ago.

got there around 645pm and got ourselves changed to be ready for the workouts. we went in as beginners with no knowledge on any of the stuffs there although i used to train on those before. the trainers prepared a set of different programme for each of us and started guiding us on what and how we should do each workouts. the good thing about this gym is that every individual have a different set of programme and it will be improved from time to time without additional professional fees charged. besides that, they do also advise and recommend on food and diets for each individual at no cost. unlike other fitness center, you're just given a generic programme and you'll be stucked with it until you request for professional training that will cost you a bomb.

today, it clearly shows that how weak and low my fitness level is after i've completed 20mins of power walking and a set each of upper and lower body muscle toning workout. i felt as though as i'm floating and my whole body's muscle is just so sore. right now, i'm dead tired and guess i will have a good night sleep till tomorrow morning. also, hoping that it will not be as sore tomorrow but i doubt it.

awful breakfast

had breakfast with sm, my and ben at this bakery in shoplex, mont kiara this morning. as usual, i ordered a big breakfast while sm had banana french toast. it didn't take long for it to be served and it looks a bit weird for my breakfast. the big breakfast comes with 2 pieces of sausages, scramble egg, toast, baked beans, mushroom and coleslaw. i'm not sure whether is it just me that how can breakfast served with coleslaw. normally, i would presume it comes with your main meals for lunch or dinner. this is the first time i've had breakfast with coleslaw. the sausages is tasteless while the scramble eggs and the rest barely pass the ok mark. the mushroom tasted a bit weird as it's fried with garlic and it totally ruined the whole thing. it doesn't come with any coffee or tea and it cost more than what i paid in strudels. sm's banana french toast was alright as the toast is fried with egg with banana slices and honey served on top of it. my had the same toast with an awful cup of latte that looks like milo and tasted nothing like coffee. ben had the same breakfast as i did and he too complains the same thing and not finishing it. well, i don't think i will be visiting that place again unless someone tells me it has improved.

it's the end of the week

this weekend goes by too fast and knowing it's gonna be monday again tomorrow, i felt reluctant to start the new week. what makes it worst is i'm having an early meeting tomorrow and it's as early as 930am. that's the worst thing you ever want to do to start a new week. my weekend is filled with activities that kept me not thinking about work at all. yesterday, i started my day with a bit of cleaning to do before heading out with sm and my parents after lunch. mom and dad wanted a pair of walking shoes each and so we decided to go to sg wang area to get them. but after looking at the traffic heading down town is terribly bad, we then changed our plan to mid valley instead. had a few good hours of shopping around and after getting what they wanted, we then leave for dinner soon after that. after dinner, to help in digestion, we had a short walk at the night market as i haven't been to one for almost 2 months. back at home, had my shower and started watching the first half of the movie called 'the 40 year-old virgin'. it's a comedy about this men never had sex before and his colleague friends is helping him to get one. this comedy is filled with swearing, bit of obscene shots and sex jokes. not recommended for kids but adults, it's a good movie to laugh your a** off.

today, woke up a bit late as to compensate the hours over the weekdays. left home around noon to have lunch and head off to check out the house condition that we bought a while ago. then, we spent a couple of hours doing some groceries shopping at jusco maluri before going back home at around late afternoon. continued the other half of the movie and the reason why it's not shown in the cinemas is because it will never get approval from the sensorship board due to the vulgar language and nudity scenes. i do remember the trailer was shown in the of the cinemas months ago before its released in america at the end of august. anyway, go look for it and watch it. later at night, had dinner with sm and family for her birthday celebration. it's a bit late but better late than never. well, that's what i did over the weekend and i enjoyed it very much. how about yours? enjoyed? i certainly hope so.

le jour spécial du sm

yesterday was a special day for sm as she celebrated the day where she was born into this world. as usual, its another working day for us before we go on with the plans i had for her. we had lunch at this japanese restaurant called 'san kei' at plaza mont kiara with our colleagues as a simple celebration for her. almost everyone attended the lunch session except pixel where he's stuck in bkk office for 4 weeks and some that's on leave. lunch was good where portion was big enough to last you till at night and the taste was fantastic.

me and sm left office around 615pm and we drove to life center in town where we had our dinner in
tgi fridays. there's nothing special about the restaurant but the reason why i choose fridays was because i wanted to bring back the happy memories where that's the restaurant that i dated her years ago. hehehehe!!! we had a bit of traffic getting into town as it's friday night and that's when people hangs out especially where we are going to dine.

i made a reservation prior going there and we were there right on time at 730pm after all the hassle on the road and finding a park. the decor of the place is still the same since we last dine there a few years ago. the place was decorated with old junk yard stuffs such as sign boards, old photos, bronze wares, kitchen equipments, gardening tools and etc etc. tables and chairs were placed on top of elevated platforms and they had a relatively huge bar counter.

after taking a few moments browsing through the menu, we then decided to order. as a starter, we ordered tgi fridays famous 'loaded potato skins' where it is filled with colby cheese and crisp of beef bacon (we replaced the beef with chicken strips) served with sour cream and onions. this is the first time we've tasted it and we loved it very much. it's a good choice to start with when you felt like something that is not too heavy. for our main course, i had 'jack daniel's® chicken & shrimp' where it comes with vegetables, cheddar cheese mashed potatoes, juicy chicken breast and battered shrimps served with jd dipping sauce. when it first came, the first thing i said to myself is 'man!! that's small' and after i'm 3/4 done with it, i said 'this is the right portion'. hehehe!! (kind of greedy). sm had 'cajun-fried chicken salad' where it's a crispy battered chicken strips served on a bed of mixed greens with tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, black olives and monterey jack cheese. it's also comes with a slice of garlic bread and honey mustard dressing.

there were no dessert for us as the meal was enough for us. we then left fridays for a walk along jalan p.ramlee where all the clubs and discos were. there were crowds in certain clubs as some were quiet for a friday night. both of us haven't been to that area for quite some time and to my surprise, the famous disco 'warp' is no longer there and it's replaced by a new club called 'channel'. i'm not sure when did 'warp' closed down but that definitely indicate to me that i haven't been going out for a while. nothing much to see or wander, we decided to head back to the car and think of where to go after.

we did a quite adventurous thing where we drove down town as we have no specific place to go. so, we decided to keep on driving while exploring any new places to hang out or food. believe it or not, we drove all around the golden triangle area, going through different roads to see where it leads to and shortcuts that can be taken to reduce some distance. we even drove to places like klcc, chow kit, kampung baru, general hospital, taman tasik titiwangsa, petaling street, brickfields, sentul and finally bangsar. along our exploration, we indeed identify a lot of places that we have not gone before and lots of road in town have been re-routed.

our last stop is where we ended up in bangsar before we headed home. the scariest part of the journey is when on the way to bangsar via brickfields, there were this bunch of moron, twit, idiot illegal motorcyclist racing each other through and flow the stretch of brickfields road. they were revving and trying to overtake the other vehicles dangerously that causes almost all the vehicles to stop as it almost created a panic situation to everyone. the best part was there's a patrol car with 2 policemen at the side of the road doing nothing when all the actions were happening. those motorcyclist weren't bothered at all and they carried on outracing each other. when we were driving along jalan maarof in bangsar, there's this same bunch of idiots riding dangerously, beating the lights and making illegal turns. one of them even went as close as a foot away from my car and i'm hoping that guy don't bang onto my car. the only thing i could do is stay in the lane and not making any turns or even switch lanes. it was really an experience driving around town at night and overall we only did an hour plus of roaming around.
