logical or not?

read thestar.com.my this morning and saw this news about 'handphone ruling stays'. apparently, used of mobile phone is schools are allowed and it will not be banned. logical thinking tells you that when on earth do you need a mobile phone in school. most of the time, you will be in class attending lectures. don't tell me that half way in a maths class, you run out of the class to make or receive a phone call. it's stupid!!! yet, parents commented that it's a good idea for their kids to have one. OMG!!! they're still learning and don't even know how to earn a penny while carrying mobile phones worth thousands. the kids nowadays are spoilt for sure. by who? their parents themselves. even a 8 year old kid know what's logical and what's not. what happened to the folks out there? look at what logical and non logical people have to say about the ruling.

Logical

Said parent Leong Siu Foon, 47: “It is rather stupid to let your children waste time and money on such things.

“I can’t believe the Government is encouraging it.”

Another parent Chandran Shanmugam concurred.

“Although the teachers will tell students to switch them off, they will be preoccupied with playing with the handphones rather than concentrating on their studies,” he said.

Chieng Lie Yang, 14, said disciplinary problems would arise with the lifting of the ban.

“Even a mechanical pencil will get stolen in school, not to mention the latest model of handphones,” said the assistant head prefect.

Nur Hanisah Ithnin, 16, said it was neither practical nor necessary for students to bring handphones to school as public phones were available.

“They may also stir up jealousy among students, especially in those who cannot afford the latest models or even a handphone,” she said.

According to Emerald Tan, eight: “Only naughty students bring handphones to school. They only play games with them and show off.”

Non Logical

Grandfather Wang Chea Soon, 70, said times had changed.

“It’s no longer safe for our children, even in schools. When they have a problem they can call us straight away,” he said.

Norhafidah Haniff said handphones would make it easier for parents to keep track of their children’s whereabouts.

“My eldest son is in Form Five and I would like to be in contact with him so that I can check whether he has arrived safely at his destination. It eases my mind,” she said.

Some students said they were not worried about their handphones being stolen as they could always buy another.

Added a 15-year-old student: “I play with my handphone during boring lessons.

“It doesn’t affect my studies as I prefer to study on my own at home.”

new year, new layout

since it's already 2006, i have decided to change the blog layout to something different. at first, i was browsing the available layouts by blogger.com. unfortunately, nothing attracted me and then i've decided to customize it myself by editing the codes in the template settings. took me about 2 hours to get this new layout up and running as i'm not too familiar with codes and almost forgotten about the html stuffs. after all the trial and error, here's the new 'neotrax says' for the new year. drop me some feedbacks or even suggestions and i'll see what i can do to improve it further.

2006 countdown @ the curve

it was a wet and sloppy location where rain has been pouring since late afternoon. there were a few 2006 countdown locations such as klcc, bukit bintang, the curve and bukit jalil. coincidently, i was at the curve for lunch with a couple of friends. they left after food while me and sm wondered in the curve and ikano till at night. crowds in the curve has always been small during the normal days so does on the 31st december 2005. at around 8pm, it's a changed where more and more people stormed into the curve for the sake of 2006 countdown. the party started around 8pm with games and events by different parties such as hitz.fm and etc etc. it's still drizzling out there and crowds were seen gathering in front of the stage already. i wasn't feeling well and both of us were hungry, so we left the curve to head for dinner without joining the countdown party. before we left, i managed to take a couple of photo shots of the event and the stage.
