do you like jazz?
jazz is one of my favourite music after all those days listening to alternatives, rock, grunge and heavy metal stuffs since high school. i started listening and knowing how to enjoy jazz not too long ago when i started with diana krall. she's just an awesome jazz artist!! then i moved on listening to artist like norah jones, lisa ono, dave brubeck and etc etc.
i find that not many people enjoys and have the passion for jazz especially when they say it's some kind of music that makes you doze off. well, different individuals have different taste and perceptions on music and i do respect them.
well, what is jazz? after reading some of the jazz website, it seems that jazz was originated from America when it was joint developed together with traits from West African black folk music and European light classical music. in singapore, people are talking about the next jazz thingy which jazz mixing with hip hop music. well, wonder how is it going to sound like.
jazz in malaysia? well, i'm not too sure about it but i just can't find any jazz radio station apart from the one on astro channel 111 "JAZZ # - All the Jazz Greats". maybe it's one of the reason that there ain't a lot of jazz listeners out there. a year ago, when i was in jb doing nothing at night, i started tuning to all the radio stations in singapore and so happened that i found a jazz radio station called "lush 99.5 fm". they played really good jazz music that you never get in malaysia's radio station. everytime i'm back in jb, that's my definite radio station to tune into apart from "class 95 fm".
when i'm in kl, i do still listen to "lush 99.5 fm" by streaming to their online radio. check out their official website for online streaming and it doesn't take up all the bandwidth. so, you can still surf and stream at the same time. but before you stream, make sure you have "real player" installed. so, to all jazz lovers out there, i seriously recommend you to try it out.
by the way, do you guys know of any really good jazz bars around klang valley area? drop me a comment for any recommended ones. thanx jazzzie!!

Hey, I heard my colleague saying that there is a radio station which plays only Jazz, try 95.8. It's promoted at the Jazz Fest recently wor. I haven't try tho...
That is actually Fly FM which is headed by Hitz FM's ex dj Fly Guy. It's not a jazz station. By the way, it's subsidise by Max Air Play in Block B, Mont Kiara. Got a friend that works there.
