merdeka merdeka merdeka!!!

it's a public holiday today as it's malaysia's 48th national day since we were last ruled by various rulers of the world like british, japan, netherlands and portugal. the national day parade were held at putrajaya where all the government precints is located.

it's been a while since i can sleep past 10am in the morning but nowadays i just can't do that anymore. woke up at 0800 this morning and my initial plan today is to catch up with some old mates. so, the first person i called is gary and we had breakfast over at another mates stall in pudu. what does he sell? well, he took over the famous noodle business called "tai poh mee" from his grandfather a year ago and he's doing pretty well. "tai poh mee" is similar to "wan tan mee" except that it doesn't have any dark soya sauce. there's still pork minced, bbq pork and accompanied by a bowl of "wan tan". where's the place? it's along jalan pudu just before the fire brigade cross junction if you were to come from the city. the stall is situated at this alley called "wai sek kai". it's a very famous stall among the hakka people and now it's to all others as well.

after brekky, wanted to catch up with damien but unfortunately, he's at the national day parade with friends from our neighbour country. so, we ended up back to gary's place where we started chatting about those days and updates on the other mates. it's been a while since we last catch up among us. we had a good couple of hours chat before time for me to meet up with sm for lunch at her place.

at sm's, she cooked a lovely lunch for both of us although it didn't really turned into what we expected. she had planned to cook "pad thai" for ages and today is the day that she finally managed to do it. "pad thai" is actually a thai noodle dish where it's a combination of spicy, sour and sweet taste. the first time we had "pad thai" is when we were at janice joy's place in brisbane. the reason i said it didn't turned into what we expected is because the sweet soya sauce tasted salty than any sweetness in it. everything went alright until the sweet soya sauce is added and it just taste as though you're eating salt. so, sm had no choice but to add a little bit of sugar to reduce the saltness and at the end it tasted much better and almost near to what we expected. that is the most crappy sweet soya sauce that i ever tasted!!!
