authentic hainanese chicken rice

have you ever heard of the authentic hainanese chicken rice called "nam heong"? i bet you have. as some of you might already know that "nam heong" have been bought over by esquire kitchen in the recent years. personally, i find that it's not as good as before but some people would disagree with me as different people will have different food expectations.

the famous "nam heong" chicken rice started back in 1938 and in the recent years i found out that the original people whom used to run "nam heong" before it had been bought over is running a new chicken rice shop called "kai yong". it's still along jalan sultan where it's a few blocks from the "nam heong" chicken rice shop and personally, i think they serve a better and more authentic chicken rice where they don't have roast chicken. i am not promoting for them but just like to share my opinion on good and nice varieties of food to all chicken rice lover out there.

the thing that i don't like dining there is because it is not air conditioned compared to "nam heong" but for the society nowadays, they prefer a more comfortable and cooling place to dine in. for the older generations, i think they prefer good food than eating place conditions. i have heard stories from the older people saying, if you're a tourist and have not been to that place for chicken rice, basically, you have not been to kuala lumpur at all. hehehehehe!!! so, if you're somewhere in petaling street area, why not give it a go.

yeah!! i think i know which one you're referring to. if not wrong, it's called 'Sek Yuen' along jalan pudu.

all dishes are cooked using charcoals and not gas stove. that actually forces the taste into the poultry or veges.
